Why Caravan Surgeon?
Specialist Repairs. Straightforward Advice.
Caravan and motorhome bodywork is not simply oversized car bodywork. We consider the material, construction, access and extent of the damage before recommending the most practical repair route.
That can mean assessing painted aluminium panels, GRP or fibreglass sections, plastic bumpers and mouldings, or specialist interior plastics before deciding whether a local repair, workshop repair or replacement route makes most sense.
- More than 30 years of cosmetic and specialist repair experience
- Knowledge of leisure-vehicle materials and construction
- Repair where appropriate rather than automatically replacing
- Mobile and workshop options according to the job
- Clear explanations and practical repair options
Repair decisions
Repair Where Practical. Replace Where Necessary.
A damaged caravan or motorhome panel does not automatically need replacing. The right approach depends on the material, shape of the damage, access, finish and whether a durable local repair can be achieved without creating unnecessary dismantling or cost.
Leisure vehicles can combine painted aluminium panels, GRP or fibreglass sections, plastic bumpers and mouldings, and specialist washroom plastics. Dents, cracks, splits, impact damage and surface defects therefore need to be assessed according to the construction of the individual vehicle rather than treated as ordinary car bodywork.
Some cosmetic repairs can be completed mobile when access, weather, space and finish requirements allow. More involved work may be better suited to controlled workshop conditions. If a local repair is not the sensible option, we would rather explain that clearly than recommend the wrong repair method.
What we consider
A repair method should fit the damage.
- Panel or component material
- Depth, shape and extent of the damage
- Access to the repair area
- Surface finish and colour requirements
- Whether mobile or workshop conditions are appropriate

Mobile or workshop?
The Repair Determines the Environment.
Some localised repairs are well suited to mobile work. Others need more space, masking, controlled preparation or refinishing conditions to achieve the right result.
- Mobile assessment and suitable local repairs
- Workshop conditions for more involved bodywork and refinishing
- Repair method selected around the vehicle and damage—not convenience alone
We will explain which route is appropriate before work is arranged.
Insurance damage
Caravan & Motorhome Insurance Repairs
Insurance-related damage still starts with the same question: what is the technically sensible repair for this vehicle and this damage?
Clear photographs can often provide the starting point for assessing damaged aluminium bodywork, GRP or fibreglass panels, plastic components and other cosmetic accident damage. Where appropriate, Caravan Surgeon can provide repair information and a quotation to help the customer progress the next stage of the claim.
Repair authorisation remains with the insurer or policyholder as applicable. The aim is to describe the proposed repair clearly, avoid unnecessary assumptions and make the repair scope easier to understand before work is arranged.

Genuine repair evidence
Real Damage. Real Repair. Finished Properly.
A well-planned local repair can preserve the original caravan panel and avoid unnecessary replacement where the construction and damage make that technically sensible.
This example shows the same side-panel area before and after repair, demonstrating the kind of finish we work toward rather than relying on generic stock imagery.
